The Kia Tigers and Doosan Bears were unable to settle the score.
Kia and Doosan battled to a 7-7 tie in 12 extra innings in the regular season finale of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League on Saturday at Gwangju-Gia Champions Field.
KIA led the standings with 26 wins, 1 draw and 16 losses. Doosan is in fourth place with a 25-1 record.
Lee Woo-sung had three hits and three RBIs, including a home run, Choi Won-joon had three hits and one RBI, and Park Chan-ho had two hits and two runs scored. Starter Yoon Young-cheol pitched five innings of two-run ball, but the bullpen struggled.
Doosan's Heo Kyung-min paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Yang Seok-hwan hit a solo home run. Ramos added two hits and two RBIs. On the mound, starter Kim Dong-joo allowed five runs in 2.2 innings, but the offense helped him avoid the loss.
Doosan struck first with a solo home run by Yang Seok-hwan in the top of the second inning, but Kia answered with a solo home run by Lee Woo-sung in the bottom of the inning.
Doosan regained a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning when Heo Kyung-min hit a two-out RBI double. Kia tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the inning when Park Chan-ho doubled and Choi Won-joon singled. Na Sung-beom followed with a single, and with runners on first and third, Choi Hyung-woo hit an RBI double and Lee Woo-sung followed 스포츠토토 with an RBI single to make it 5-2.
Kia then secured a three-run lead with Yoon Young-cheol's relief pitching. However, Doosan did not go down easily. In the top of the seventh inning, Lee Yoo-chan and Cho Su-sung singled to put runners on first and second with no outs, and pinch-hitter Yang Yang-ji hit an RBI single to center field.
Changing the momentum, Doosan tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI single by Heo Kyung-min and a sacrifice fly by Kim Jae-hwan. A walk to Yang Seok-hwan put runners on first and third, and Ramos' RBI single made it 6-5.
The two teams continued to battle back and forth. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Kia had runners on second and third after Park Chan-ho singled, the next batter walked, and Choi Hyung-woo hit a high fly ball. The runners then came home on a wild pitch to tie the game at 6-6.
In the top of the ninth, Doosan regained the lead at 7-6 on Ramos' RBI single with runners on first and second after an error and Kim Jae-hwan's high fly ball. Kia tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth on Han Jun-soo's RBI single with runners on first and second after Kim Sun-bin's single and a wild pitch. The game went into extra innings.
In extra innings, the game was not easily decided. Doosan missed a two-out opportunity in the top of the 10th, and KIA failed to capitalize on a one-out opportunity in the bottom of the 12th. In the end, the game ended in a 7-7 draw.
